Frequently Asked Questions

Due to its endless recyclability without any loss in quality, glass is the most impactful thing you can recycle, as 100% of it will be reused.

By choosing to recycle glass, you actively decrease waste sent to landfills and help create a cleaner and more sustainable environment for future generations.

Our friendly and professional service saves you time otherwise spent driving to recycling points, and adds convenience as glass can be bulky, heavy, and difficult to transport. We make being environmentally conscious effortless and easy.

1. Once collected and transported to Fairfax County’s recycling centers by Bottle2Bin's collection team, the glass recycling process begins with the sorting of glass bottles by color.

2. Next, the sorted glass is cleaned to remove any impurities such as foodstuffs or labels.

3. Once clean, the glass is crushed into small pieces called cullet, which are then melted and molded into new glass products for use, completing the cycle.

We use Hyper Tough 12-gallon collection bins. The capacity of these bins equates to approximately 15-20 twenty-ounce wine bottles or 35 sixteen-ounce beer bottles.

We offer expanded plans with more frequent glass pickup at discounted prices. Being environmentally friendly is for everyone!

Bottles and jars of any color, ex. wine, beer, spirits and jars such as sauces, jelly, and baby food are all accepted, provided that the caps are removed first.

Containers that had food in them should be emptied and rinsed.

Household product glass such as mirrors, Pyrex, drinking glasses and light bulbs cannot be recycled and should be disposed of in general waste.

Unfortunately, apartment buildings present a unique challenge for our collection teams.
